  • Junking Your Car: A Process Beneficial To More Than One Party!}

    Submitted by: Randy Mark

    Cars are made from metal which can be reused when there is no need for the car itself. The process of getting rid of a vehicle that is no longer wanted or is not in working condition is known as junking. People who wish to junk their vehicles can earn cash for junk cars. However, the amount that is earned is generally not a very high amount. However, the amount received is determined by the condition of the vehicle. There are many industries which make use of the metal that comes from junkies and hence the process of junking has become very popular recently. Individuals too like this concept as they are able to earn cash for junk cars. People wishing to get rid of their vehicles can certainly give them away to a scrap yard which would be able to make use of the metal.

    It is always a good idea to junk those cars, which are no longer in a drivable condition and earn from them. Junkyards take vehicles that are in the worst possible condition which is why this is the best option for people who own vehicles that have been dented from all areas and are a major embarrassment to drive. Dealers can easily be found online who would be willing to buy them and offer cash for junk cars. They would also provide you with a price quote and offer, which you would not be able to get if you were to try to sell the vehicle elsewhere. Hence junking your vehicle will give you some money rather than a very low amount, which is what you would get if you would actually try to sell the vehicle to an actual customer.

    YouTube Preview Image

    If you are looking for a junkyard which would offer you cash for junk cars, the best place to search would be the internet. It will have a list of all the nearby junkyards that you could visit in your locality and which would be willing to offer you the deal. You could always go to the most reputable of them all as this would guarantee you good returns. The condition of the vehicle will determine how much will be offered to you along with which company you have been to. If you go to a very well known company, the chance of you getting a good amount is high as compared to an average company. Also, if the condition is relatively good and the metal can be used, you could easily earn a decent amount. One thing you would not have to worry about when making a deal with a reputable company to dispose your vehicle is that their deals generally do not have any hidden element to them.

    The deal is very straightforward and once agreed to, the dealer keeps to his word and offers cash for junk cars as was promised. There are different uses for the metal that comes from junked cars. Some metal is sold to industries that use the metal as a raw material. There are some individuals who wish to buy secondhand and come to the junkyard to buy them. In this way, there are two parties which benefit from the sale of junkies. Firstly, it is the original owner who sells it to the company and earns cash for junk cars. Secondly, it is the company itself which earns cash for junk cars when it sells the car to someone looking for a used/secondhand vehicle. The process of junking is beneficial to many people and owners should be encouraged to junk their cars once they no longer require them.

    Honda’s Civic and Ridgeline truck won the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards at the International Auto Show in Detroit. This is the first time a company has won both awards in the same year. The finalists were the Ridgeline, the Ford Explorer SUV and the Nissan Xterra. The awards are intended to recognize vehicles for their innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and value.

    Honda also unveiled its latest model the Fit, a US version of the Honda Jazz sold in nonUS markets. The Fit comes with a 109 horsepower engine, antilock brakes, six air bags, fold flat seats, full iPod connectivity, 90.1 cubic feet of passenger and cargo space, and 33 mpg for the city 38 mpg for the highway. A sport package will also include Honda’s first steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The car will go against another two new Japanese subcompacts, the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa and will have to wrestle away sales from the category’s current top seller Chevrolet’s Aveo.

    The car will start selling in April for around $13,000 to $14,000 as a 2007 model. The company plans to sell 33,000 units of the hatchback in 2006.

    Many automakers expect industry wide sales in the US to be between 16 and 17 million units. Honda, which is Japan’s third largest automaker, hopes to gain US market share with the redesigned Civic and the Fit. Honda hopes that the company’s auto sales will rise 4% this year. The fuel-efficient Civic helped increase US market share to 8.6 percent last year, some of those sales were taken from Ford as gas prices rocketed to $3 a gallon. The US market is extremely important for Honda as it receives 64% of its operating profit from the US.

    Cambridge, Massachusetts —The 22nd annual Mayfair took place in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 1. The event, which ran from 12-6 pm, featured work from local artists, performers, as well as a large cadre of tents selling beads, ceramics, and fried foods. After light rain in the early afternoon, the sun came out around 4 pm.

    Local streets were closed to cars, and vendors and artists set up along the curbs. Church Street was blocked off and dedicated to chalk drawings, which were drawn by professional artists and amateurs alike. One of the largest drawings was a reproduction of Hokusai’s “In The Hollow of a Wave off the Coast at Kanagawa,” known colloquially as “The Wave.”

    The Alice Hoffman Breast Cancer Center and Locks of Love held a “charity shave,” in which members of the public were encouraged to donate to the charity. Upon donating they would have their heads shaved, or at least 10″ of their hair trimmed “in support of those who lose their hair to chemotherapy.”

    Several bands played in succession on a stage set up in front of the offices of Dewey, Cheetham, and Howe. Performers included Toussaint and the China Band, as well as The Walkmen.

    Self-described “voice collector” Halsey Burgund brought his portable recording studio and successfully recorded samples from many passersby. At one point, his small box was packed with five youths who wanted to record a collaborative performance. Not everyone was interested in Burgund’s box, though. “I don’t want to give my name and some crap out,” said one youth, pictured at right, who preferred not to give his name.

    The United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Right Honourable Gordon Brown PC MP, in a speech to the British House of Commons today presented his ninth Budget, what is very likely to be his last Budget before the next UK General Election. This opened the parliamentary debate on the 2005 Finance Bill, and was followed by responses from the opposition parties.

    In a 48 minute long speech, the Chancellor presented a Budget of “tax cuts that are reasonable, spending that is affordable, and [economic] stability that is paramount”, that was “the prudent course for Britain”. There were few surprises that had not already been indicated in his 2004 pre-Budget report. The increase in the threshold on stamp duty was greater than that forecast by commentators, as was the amount of the Council Tax rebate to households with pensioners.

    Tips On Buying Cheap Used Atv Parts}

    Posted in Used Parts | July 13th, 2017

    Submitted by: Jason Pound

    What are you suppose to do if the part you need for your ATV is not available from the dealer. Well in this instance you have two drastically different options. The first option being going to your local used ATV junkyard. While this is sometimes fun in the long run it will cost you more money and time then the other option.

    My experiences at our local ATV junk yard have always been horrible to put it mildly. They usually went something like this. I show up ATV junk yard and go to the counter and ask if they have the part that I’m looking for. In most cases the person behind the counter does not have a clue and just points to the piles of rusted out dirty ATV’S. Then after searching though dirt and mud for awhile I usually just give up and go home, but sometimes I do actually find a part that will work. In these rare events I lug whatever part I feel will work to the counter. This is where my trip usually becomes interesting this is where I find out what the junk man thinks these used ATV parts are worth. Let me tell you this is where I usually realize what a mistake it was to go to the ATV parts junk yard. I usually involves the junk man severely over charging me as if this rusty old part is made of solid gold. This is where I would leave the part on the counter and walk out.

    The second option for buying used ATV parts that not everyone knows is buying your discontinued or used ATV parts on eBay. I am sure you have in some capacity or another used eBay to buy something at one time or another in your life. What some people fail to see is that eBay can often be one of the best if not the best place to find used ATV parts. There are some things that may be done to better find used ATV parts in eBay.

    The very first thing you need to do when looking on eBay for used ATV parts is to use quotation marks when Searching eBay for used ATV parts.Here is an example of how I search for used ATV parts on eBay. For example if I am hunting for a swing arm for a 1985 250r. How, I would approach this is to first go to eBay Motors and in the search bar type “250r swing arm” it will actually return some results. If I do not find one that fits my application I might then type “250rx swingarm” into the search bar this I where the deals are It would be searching for misspellings.

    Another good trick to finding inexpensive used ATV parts on eBay is to do mistypes or rearrange the name of the ATV you are looking to buy parts for. I once found a listing for a “r250” Honda that was in reality a very clean 250r. There’s also another small tip that I should offer about purchasing used parts on eBay. For instance certain models interchange for instance nearly on the parts on an 1984 200x will interchange with the parts for an 1985 200x.

    A way to find out which parts interchange with which ATV models is to take a look at the OEM parts & online schematics this will be vary useful. Observe the exploded view for whatever used ATV part you an are trying to find. Then write down the part number and check a year ahead and a year behind to work out if the same part was used on both machines. If it’s the same part number it’s the same part. As usual take care who you deal with on eBay, check their feed back scores. And if the pictures are not clear ask for another picture or a different angle. If you follow my advice you will be able to find cheap quality ATV parts to help you get you quad running again while saving you money.

    The term Britain when used in international news typically refers to the United Kingdom, although it may be used technically to refer to the island of Great Britain, which consists of England, Scotland, and Wales but omits other parts of the UK such as Northern Ireland. It may be clearer to use the term United Kingdom or UK; if you do use the term Britain, link directly to United Kingdom.

    Japanese researchers create smell sensor using genetically engineered frog eggs

    ">
    Japanese researchers create smell sensor using genetically engineered frog eggs
    Posted in Real Estate | July 13th, 2017

    Sunday, August 29, 2010

    A University of Tokyo group of researchers, led by bioengineer Shoji Takeuchi, has made an electronic sensor capable of smelling gases. The sensor uses genetically engineered frog cells. Since previous sensors were not very accurate, the scientist decided to try a biological approach. The invention was revealed in a US scientific journal yesterday, and is supposed to be used to design better machines to detect polluting gases in the atmosphere.

    Previous smell sensors were based on quartz rods, which vibrate when a substance binds to them. The gases are distinguished by their molar masses, which can be similar for molecules with different structure, thus relatively often triggering a false positive. Trying to find a more accurate solution, Takeuchi decided to follow an example from insect world. As he explained, “when you think about the mosquito, it is able to find people because of carbon dioxide from the human. So the mosquito has CO2 receptors. When we can (extract) DNA (from the mosquito) we can put this DNA into the frog eggs to detect CO2.”

    Genes of several insects (the silk moth, diamondback moth and fruit fly), injected into African clawed frog Xenopus laevis eggs, allowed them to produce relatively inexpensive and useful sensors. The choice of the species was caused by their widely studied and well-understood protein expression mechanism.

    The modified cells responded to three kinds of pheromones and one odourant, which have similar chemical properties. When a molecule of an odorous substance adhered to the receptor on the membrane protein, ion channels opened for a certain period of time, and a current was generated. Its magnitude was clearly different for all four tested substances, allowing to distinguish between them accurately.

    The colleagues embedded the sensor into a mannequin, so that it could shake its head when a gas was detected. It was easier to observe. Pheromones and molecules with quite similar molecule structure produced clearly distinguishable reaction, with higher accuracy than other biological or human-made sensors. As the research group said, the detection sensitivity of the odor sensor is several tens of parts per billion (ppb), and it is as high as the sensitivity of an existing odor sensor that uses an oxide semiconductor. The distinctive feature of the new sensor is its capability to selectively detect some odorous substances, rather than its sensitivity. Very few false positives were possible due to the biological mechanism involved.

    At normal temperature, the sensor lifetime is about 12 hours, which can be extended by putting it into a refrigerator before first use.

    Shoji Takeuchi says has a great hope for research use in future, since the frog eggs are very practical for genetic engineering, and can be conveniently used to develop smell sensors for a wide range of gases. He said, “The X. laevis oocyte has high versatility for the development of chemical sensors for various odorants. We believe that a shared ability to smell might open a new relationship between man and robot. .. The research will have wide implications… If the sensor is embedded in a nursing robot, it will be able to identify certain mouth odors or body odors. Also, it can be used for detecting CO2, air pollution, water pollution and food. It’s very important for the environment.”

    Posted in Real Estate | July 13th, 2017

    There are two things one can expect on a trip to see Michael Musto at the offices of the Village Voice: a 20-minute round-trip wait for the elevator and rapid fire answers from one of the most recognizable gossip columnists in the United States. Musto, in addition to his appearances on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and the E! network, has been writing his column for the Voice since 1984. He has recently compiled the best of them in a book released this year titled, La Dolce Musto: Writings by the World’s Most Outrageous Columnist. He was Carrie Bradshaw, replete with a prodigious use of puns, before Sex in the City was a thought. His column is a romp through his life, spats and opinions on socio-political issues. As David Thigpen of the Chicago Tribune wrote, Musto is “a funny and caustic satirist who masquerades as a gossip and nightlife columnist.”

    Musto, a Columbia University graduate, is a rarity in today’s celebrity world: he is accessible. He often corresponds with his readers and his public functions are a mix of parties, nightclubs, academic lectures, university panels and film premieres.

    He is friendly and frank, and he welcomes people to join him in his world (“I just got a message that Michael Lucas died!” he says staring wide-eyed at his phone; the message turned out to be false). Wikinews reporter David Shankbone spoke with Musto about his life and his relationship to the world of celebrity journalism. And he did not hold back.

    Overview Of Three Popular Arcade Games}

    Posted in Amusement Park | July 8th, 2017

    Submitted by: Daniel Millions

    Modern arcade games have been around since the 1970s, although the more popular ones that most people are familiar with were created in the 1980s and early 90s. Currently, arcades are not as thrilling as they once were, especially since home consoles and computer games nearly rule the video game market. Many of the popular arcade games have been transferred to a console setting, so if you still want to play a classic arcade game, you can do so from the comfort of your own home.

    Of the many arcade games that have been invented, there are a few that warrant in depth analysis due to their monumental impact. Mortal Kombat, created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, was released in arcades in 1992. It was a response to the hit game Street Fighter II, which at the time was one of the highest acclaimed fighting games. What made Mortal Kombat special, and controversial, was the incredible amount of violence. By pushing a unique combination of buttons, players could perform fatalities, which were intensely graphic ways of killing one’s opponent.

    The games developers did this on purpose, as a way to generate controversy and thus publicity for the game, and their plan worked quite well; in fact, almost too well. Due to Mortal Kombat and a few other games like it, the Entertainment Software Rating Board, commonly known as the ESRB, was created to give ratings to games (such as E, T, and M). Mortal Kombat has been released on several different consoles, and two film adaptations have been made.

    Street Fighter was conceptualized more than five years before Mortal Kombat, and was developed by the well known Japanese company Capcom. The game features several characters, the most popular being Ryu, who was only one of two characters (the other being Ken) available for play in the first street fighter. The ten other characters shown in the game could not be controlled by the player. The first Street Fighter did not develop much of a following, although it set the stage for sequels, all of which would gain a better following than the original.

    Specifically, Street Fighter II initiated a strong fan base and essentially launched the fighting game genre in to widespread popularity. This was because eight characters could be played, and each had their own unique fighting style. The variety of characters enabled enhanced and prolonged game play, and some people even credit the game with extending the arcade era by a few years.

    Rampage allowed up to three players to play at once, controlling various monsters with the purpose of destroying cities. The three monsters included a giant gorilla (George), a gigantic lizard (Lizzie), and a large werewolf (Ralph). Players could destroy buildings by punching, kicking, or jumping on them. You could also climb buildings and eat people and food along the way. Resistance was provided in a variety of forms, such as police, helicopters, tanks, and the army.

    In addition, if you tried to eat the wrong thing, like an electrical appliance, you would take damage and fall off the building. When one’s life ran out, the monster would revert in to a naked human and walk embarrassingly off the screen. If multiple players were participating, another monster could even eat their human comrade. Several sequels have been created, including some of the Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Wii. No new installments are set to come out in the near future.
